Electric vehicles are booming! By 2021, these powertrains (100% electric or plug-in hybrids) will already account for more than 20% of registrations in Luxembourg. To support the democratisation of this type of vehicle, the Luxembourg government is pursuing its proactive policy of offering incentives for leasing (or purchasing) electric vehicles.

The Luxembourg government has updated the mobility climate bonus from 01 October 2024. The bonus for the purchase of a new 100 % electric car is now up to a maximum of 6,000 euros 8,000 previously. This aid will apply to vehicles consuming less than 16 kWh/100 km.
Other electric cars, i.e. those whose electrical energy consumption exceeds 200 Wh/km (or 180 Wh/km when their power exceeds 150 kilowatts), will no longer be eligible for financial support, while hybrid vehicles will no longer be subsidised from 2021. Both professionals and private individuals can benefit from these bonuses.
